Are these stories here purely for enjoyment? Are you looking for feedback (positive or negative)? I noticed most stories don't have comments so I'm not sure if they're welcome or not. Just trying to get the vibe of your community.

Hi, Samuel. Thanks for reading and for your comment. I would say pure enjoyment. Surely comments are welcome. I'm just not sure there's a lot of readers here yet. Part of that, I think, is that I have a much larger following on YouTube, where I post an audio version weekly. But I want the text to be available too, and this is a great platform for that.

Btw I tried to follow the link to your YouTube and it didn't go anywhere. Did you recently update the name of your channel or something?

Cool. Thanks for the response! Since there's so few sci-fi writers on substack (for now) it seems our community hasn't developed a lot yet. I want to help it grow. I'm a writer of sci-fi myself but I'm first a reader of it. If that makes sense.

In time I hope that readers knowing about one sci-fi author on substack leads to them knowing about ten sci-fi authors. It's a growing platform, so we'll see.

Good luck 🤞

Thanks, Samuel. Brian Scott Pauls, who writes The Cosmic Codex, might be another sci-fi Substack to check out. He's got a good mix of fiction and commentary on sci-fi as well. I love reading sci-fi, but on my schedule I hardly have enough time to write each week. I agree, there's a lot of potential to build a good sci-fi community here! Thanks for your efforts on that front!

I just followed The Cosmic Codex! I'm glad we're on the same wavelength.

I found myself dissatisfied with most mass market sci-fi coming out these last few years and found that the best writing is coming out of small groups and self publishing.

I think the future of really good sci-fi lies not with big publishers and as more readers find us, we will grow.

Hang in there. I know it's a lot of work getting everything written and it's often thankless. But I think our future is bright! So keep at it. 😁
